About us

The establisher of the company Raimundas Kirliauskas was born in 1966 in Vilnius. He began his musical activity in the year 1973 in “Azuoliukas” choir conducted by H. Perelsteinas, where Raimundas revealed his capacities of a musician as well as “evil constructor”. After his parents have bought a piano, he soon started to explore the secret of its sounding. Having taken apart and assembled the piano mechanics for several times, he started more daring experiments. As the young musician found the piano sound too obtuse, he decided to sharpen the felts of all hammers and successfully did that with the help of his father’s rasp. Although the result was excellent, the curiosity was not satisfied. The hammers have been abraded not once until the piano gained the sound of a shrieking harpsichord and was altogether irretrievably “fixed”.

Further biography facts:

From the year 1981 studies in J. Tallat-Kelpsa Conservatoire.

From the year 1985 studies in Lithuanian Music Academy.

From the year 1990 a member of “Jauna muzika” choir.

Right after passing final examinations, Raimundas leaves for practice in Germany. Studies and daily practice with German masters answered a number of questions on restoration, which is not surprising as Germany probably has the deepest traditions of the production and restoration of musical instruments. Participation in the annual Frankfurt fair of musical instruments, seminars, a visit to New York’s “Steinway & Sons” factory, practice at “Klaviere Then” (Cologne), “Kostan Piano Inc.” (New Jersey) as well as “Yamaha” masters’ consultations in Japan have provided a great benefit and a possibility to compare working principles in the field of several countries.

Since 2001, Raimundas Kirliauskas has been a member of “Euro Piano Tuners” association, the author and performer of two CD’s; he also takes part in various classical and jazz music projects.

In 1995, a team gathered and started working its way through the subtleties of the world of restoration.

Today the company provides a wide range of services: sells new or used pianos and grand pianos, provides the services of tuning and adjusting, performs complex restoration work, rents instruments for concert organisations, transports, provides consultation and the services of a recording studio.

The company regularly services, i.e. tunes and renews musical instruments, not only for private persons, but also for various cultural and educational institutions of different cities and regions.

During the decade of studious work, we have earned a valuable reputation.

JSC “Pianola ir Ko” is the representative of these piano producers in Lithuania: “Fazioli”, “Rönisch”, “Wendl&Lung”, “Gebr. Perzina”, “Gerh. Steinberg”.
